Review White guide 2017
Ultimat is the fifth in Nahid Hassan’s restaurant group Shanti, that for years have served Indian and Bengali dishes to Stockholmers. The cosy corner locale on Karlbergsgatan is modern in a classic way. The restaurateur’s heritage makes itself known in many ways, one being a portrait of the Bengali philosopher, freedom fighter and author Rabindranath Tagore, the first non European to receive the Nobel prize in literature in 1913. The menu at Ultimat is focused on festive food. This being said, it is not a posh restaurant but a great looking local establishment with a lot of heart. The flavours are full-bodied, sometimes hot, but always balanced. The vegetarian dishes are among the best on the menu. The service is caring (if you have left your reading glasses at home there are glasses to borrow.) In the bathrooms you can hear traffic buzzing from a lively intersection in Dhaka. It adds to the great feeling that stays with us even when we leave Ultimate.” /White Guide, 2017
