February 2005 saw the opening of the world´s first hotel room with therapeutic functions; the renowned hotel Lydmar in Stockholm introduced Eva-Jo Hancock’s concept room Solaris combining luxury and advanced light therapy. The room is a starch arctic experience for both eyes and ears, with organic white materials neatly blended with coroded iron. Solaris mixes state-of-theart technology with concept design and Finnish handicraft. The light therapy feature offers a choice between suggestive fiber optic lighting and a therapeutical bright white light from special lamps emulating natural sun light.
